Music by Hermeth | Mastered by Wavaudiolab | Artwork by Thomas Perrodin
A household name to most European club music aficionados, Hermeth has always been Brainwaves’ murderously effective trojan horse, and it seems that the gates are opening for the consortium’s most deadly member to infuse havoc and confusion into European nightlife. Perhaps the most aggressive of the Brainwaves clan, Hermeth is a truly bizarre specimen with an unrivalled talent and a deep understanding of the intricacies of producing booty-shaking, face-melting, club killers. Quite easily recognisable due to his humanoid form, he has a habit of hiding his face under an old t-shirt to hide his hideous acid scars, memories of a not-so-distant past life of experimentation with mind- and body-altering substances from his home planet Methyl Alpha 303-6. Unaffected and quite unaware of the concept of social distancing, Hermeth has spent the past couple of years in his dark cellar with our close associate and unpredictable alien friend Brian, whose bizarrely successful OnlyFans page has financed the pair’s substance abuse and provided them with a regular income, a new fixture to Hermeth’s life, and a definite improvement. We are therefore extremely pleased to present the following tracks, written in the short flashes of genius that appear between long psychoactive and psychedelic benders in a dark and humid place with an extremely untrustworthy but apparently quite financially stable companion. As usual Hermeth does not disappoint. In the absence of any form of maturity of character, he seems to be reaching a certain maturity in his music that promises even greater things to come.

Brainwaves Corp’s profits and equity have been on a constant rise since their establishment on this planet, and so a unanimous decision has been made by the board of directors to extend the corporation’s circle of influence beyond the relative safety of the Brainwaves Geneva lakeside retreat. Confrontation being the only viable form of communication for most Brainwaves’ members, each board member has decided to do battle with an earth-based lifeform in order to sell the sonic results of the confrontation for corporate profit. The first of these confrontations was initiated by Brainwaves’ Director of Intergalactic Colonial Affairs Estebahn, and Renens-based alien punk Yolek, whose bowl haircut can be spotted in the dirtiest caves and raves in the Swiss Romandie region. As well as an unhealthy obsession for machines and herbal medicines, Yolek’s character can be defined by a lack of understanding for human inter-personal relationships, a deep knowledge of the inner structures of trance and bass music as well as a passion for heavy low kicks. Leck Meine Bahn is the sonic outcome of a year-long battle between these two alien sociopaths, taking place somewhere off Saturn’s icy rings, surrounded by intergalactic pirate bases on low velocity asteroids.

Dr. Brian B. Waves' guide to the destruction of heavenly bodies involves seven steps, three of which we've laid out below. As for the rest? You'll have to discover them for yourselves. 1. Observe, analyse, take action and neutralise the external defence systems before infiltration. 2. Dismantle the governance structures and remove all charismatic leaders from positions of power by means of public executions. Expect resistance from the underground, do not let it foment, break it at its core and assume the position of the dominator. 3. Create panic within the resistance’s ranks within the shortest delay possible and ensure a large amount of feedback in order to crush the possibility of a future generation of rebels. The acid triplet motion is a useful technique to achieve this goal. Geneva's Brainwaves crew are launching into 2021 with a release from label mate Weith, who returns to the imprint for the second time following 2019's Obsidian EP. Following releases for Concrete Collage, Wirebox, and more recently Brokntoys and non-profit label Touched, on the aptly named DOOMSDAY Weith brings seven tracks that touch on different influences, from IDM, electro and acid to breaks, rave and techno.

As mutated branches unfolded in front of his path, he sat down to rest in the dark foliage he was sure must have been poisonous. A wave of bliss couldn’t be that far he thought, while inspecting the rusted scimitar now covered with a dark and thick paste that helped him cut his way through. A distant knocking could be heard in the distance, as if someone or something was hitting a gong of rotten wood. This spine-chilling sound conveyed to the shuddering dark foliage, as if the sound of the wind became corrupted, while the uncertainty remained ; was the quest about finding the gong or escaping it ?

It’s been over a year since his last EP, but finally, it is with mixed feelings that the Brainwaves crew have decided to release Thomas Bodenständig’s sophomore album, Speed Am Rhein.
All original music by Hermeth | Track 4 by DJ Frankie | Mastered by .wavaudiolab | Artwork by Thomas Perrodin
It’s not so long since we were blessed with “In A Huff” and “After My Bae”, and already Herr Meth is back to provide us with a third goldmine EP full of homemade bangers: “Lost My Meth”. This time the EP includes a slamming remix by his partner in crime DJ Frankie. Still as angry as ever, all efforts by the Brainwaves’ chain of command to keep the Meth under a semblance of stability have been absolutely fruitless, and when he is not busy pumping out bangers for the expectant masses, he spends his time with his mischievous and potentially imaginary alien friend Brian, dropping bombs in nightclubs and generally consuming inhuman quantities of illicit extragalactic crystal substances.

"The date was the 30th of February 3030 and the sun was setting on Geneva. The air was thick, filled with ash from an impact that has radically modified the scenery. At the surface of the Rhône, jellyfish were adjusting their perceptronic implants in order to map out this sudden modification of their environment that had become the largest crater in the history of the Jonction area. The trail of debris ran from the junction of the Rhône and Arve rivers right up to the legendary derelict factory called formerly called l’Usine, which used to be a centre for alternative arts, culture and live music. Terrified by the deafening crash of the astral body into the millennia-old building, humanoids and robots alike flocked to the smoking hole that seemed to lead straight to purgatory. Among the curious crowd, Burd Bibendaze, Salt Lake City’s infamous astral body impactology in fresh water environments specialist. Burd had been in town for a thousand years by now, still studying the hybrids created by the impact of the last asteroid to hit Geneva’s lake region in the early 21st century. As Burd was still trying to fathom his luck at witnessing a second impact in such a short space of time, he saw something move in the gaping hole beneath him. A relatively small, half slug-like, half humanoid being was floating it’s way up out of the hole. The creature had a mask in the shape the like of which Burd had only seen in history books, as if there really was a life-form that fit the 21st century human’s idea of what an extra-terrestrial. As the automated security forces rushed to the unkown creature, it waved them aside with a deft movement, stopping them mid-air with a power beyond Burd or any of the onlooker’s comprehension. The creature stopped and looked straight through Burd’s eyes and into his soul. “Hello Burd”, came a voice in his head, “My name’s Brian”. And with a little wave, it vanished in thin air before the second batch of automated security forces flew into sight."

In his secret laboratory deep beneath the surface of lake Geneva, Brainwaves’ eccentric modular scientist has been working frenetically on his research in complex soundscapes of the blip & blop variety. We’re not too sure why he’s called HTN, nor why his track titles are so bizarre, but we’re delighted to share these five precisely whittled down belters with you.

You may already be aware of its presence but an exceptionally large asteroid is on a direct collision course with our beautiful if not slightly degraded planet. Estimated date of arrival is the 2nd of January and contact is predicted to take place slap bang in the middle of the Lac Léman, falsely named Lake Geneva by some. Astronomers, astrologers, geologists and other related experts are trembling with apprehension and curiosity, as the exact composition of the beast is yet to be determined. “We can expect a wide range of organic and metallic components, but the real mystery remains the quantity of low frequencies and acidic composites that shall emerge from the biliary sequencing of the New Year” claims a worryingly enthusiastic Burd Bibendaze, research fellow at Salt Lake City University who specialises in astral body impactology in fresh water environments. “The hybrids created by the impact between local and extra-terrestrial matter will provide us with years of granular-central analysis” adds the ecstatic statistician. The Federal Swiss government advises its population to take the following precautions extremely seriously: • Avoid any windsurfing activities on the Lac Léman in the coming weeks • Protective glasses and earplugs are strongly recommended as the foreign body approaches. • It is of paramount importance to acquire the appropriate listening material for a collective study of this hybrid material. We thank you for your attention.

Straight off the assembly line of an unregistered production plant in an unmapped cave somewhere on the Swiss-French border, After My Bae is Hermeth's attempt to deal with conjugal strife and narcotic dependencies by fusing his signature saturated acid with furiously dirty ghetto beats. From the depths of Leverkusen's chemical compounds emerges Thomas Bodenständig, 53-year old German body music fanatic who had all but given up on releasing his industrial-fused beats on a major label. Luckily for him, an emissary from the Brainwaves crew discovered one of his tapes tucked into some hi-visibility Lycra shorts in a second-hand store in Düsseldorf last winter. Given the latest trends in dance music the crew immediately decided that there was money to be made from this Ruhrpot degenerate, and so the Brainwaves crew is proud to present "Is This EBM?", Thomas Bodenständig's rough but self-reflective attempt at replicating his favourite EBM bands. The fourth track, a lot more recent than the other three, is an ode to one of the saddest tales in the modern music industry, and a reminder to Thomas why he rejects stardom and remains true to his name: down to earth.

Sometimes it's hard to create stuff, you sketch things in your head, and then there's the fucking mouse and keyboard and Ableton. So you buy a Push but it's garbage, it was supposed to make you creative, to 'feel the pad' you know. A new experience, my ass. Then you get an idea ; your cat scratches the door because he wants to take a shit outside, the sound it makes seems complex enough to fill a drum rack out of it. You start making a beat, it sounds cool but if you could compare its loudness and dynamics to something else, it would probably be the equivalent of your grandma's knowledge of a parametric EQ ; basically inexistant. You slowly replace it with unorignial drum machine sounds so hopefully you can play it in the club, until no cat scratching sound is left, like the Ship of Thesus, except it's clearly less impressive than a big ass Ship since you get your ideas from a cat scratching a door.

For the first edition of the Neural Oscillations podcasts we invited our lyonnais neighbours GBoi & Jean Mi, the duo behind Comic Sans Records and Silure Albinos Fishing Club. They have been consistently releasing high quality music in a wide range of genres on their many record labels, and their DJ sets are similarly eclectic. This mix shows a particular love for a UK sound, rave breaks and low frequency oscillations, just how we like it.
Artwork by Benoît Bossy
The second Neural Oscillations takes us to London for a mix that is dripping UK-style music from the first second to the last. We’re really happy to host one of our more recent inspirations from across the channel: LMajor. A member of the highly respected West Norwood Cassette Library and Club Glow collectives, Louis Major is a rock-solid DJ and a brilliant producer whose tracks such as “Danger” or “Ravin Cru” you have definitely heard in a dirty basement before. Expect classic synths, jungle breaks and pitched vocals on this one.
Artwork by Benoît Bossy
For the third edition of the Neural Oscillations we invited swim aka mark lando and _tesdorpf, our favourite Basel-based acid aficionados whom we regularly run into at raves across the country. After the feverish, rave-ready breaks of the last two editions, this podcast slows it down a notch with a steady flow of continuous four to the floor energy and carefully selected grooves.

Zahef by name, Zahef by nature. Nathan is from the far-away city of Reims, known for its champagne, its cathedral and its angry crew La Forge. Also a member of the infamous Qui Embrouille Qui crew in Paris, Nathan has played all over France and even came to Geneva a couple of times. With this mix he has provides us with an hour of angry mayhem, combining old school rave vocals, distorted electro, some sped-up trap and heavy techno bangers.
Artwork by Benoît Bossy
For the fifth Oscillation of the neural variety we invited Soul Edifice, bossman at Vernacular Records and a strong producer whose caustic forays into subaquatic and spatial terrain have been catching our attention for a while now. As a DJ he seems to like all the same things we do: hoover synths, vocals, dark atmospheres, acid, breaks, acid, breaks and a fair dose of acid and breaks.

It’s with great pleasure that we welcome the much respected Alienata to the family. As one of Europe’s top electro DJs, Alienata has been an inspiration to us for a number of years and has supported our record label pretty much from the beginning.

As the Brainwaves Corp prepares to relaunch some more caustic material into the multiverse, the board of directors has decided to pursue its oscillatory neural activity by inviting our good friend, co-conspirator and dangerously deep digger named Fall for an 8th podcast. Co-founder of Geneva’s Central Station bar and cultural hotspot, Fall has always been and will likely remain one of our favourite selectors in the region. His nonchalant attitude hides an intricate and wide knowledge of the musical and sound art spectrum, and you can expect a top-quality mix of proper gems without a single familiar name included. Enjoy. Tracklist: 1. James Ferraro_Unknown Visitors 2. Acteurs_Cloud Generating 3. Dj Diamond_Wreckage 4. Koré_???? 5. Boon_Artifex 6. Unknown Face / NKS_Broken Limits 7. Bbrainz_Shaolin Bass 8. "Geneva-based alien collective Brainwaves have been flooding the internet with highly corrosive beats and pseudo-intelligent extra-terrestrial vibes since early 2019. Brainwaves henchmen HTN, Weith, Tout Casser, Hermeth and Estebahn dig deep into their collections every four weeks to provide Threads* with a french-speaking extraterrestrial perspective on acid and breaks.
